Beyond Hurricane Disaster Relief: PubZilla Ends Site Fees Since 2005 PubZilla has been supporting the efforts to recover the print journal collections of libraries impacted by the 2005 hurricane season. PubZilla made the following announcement shortly after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. "In consultation with the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern/Atlantic Region (NN/LM-SE/A), PubZilla is pleased to offer unlimited free use of its online auction site for donating medical journals and serials in other subjects to help restore the libraries affected by the 2005 hurricane season and other recent natural disasters. Libraries or anyone with excess, useful periodicals in biomedicine, the health sciences and other subjects may list them as ‘charity’ items at PubZilla for the purpose of donating them for library disaster relief." The recovery efforts in the region around New Orleans will certainly take a long time, including the impacted libraries. We can't predict the weather, but we can imagine the impact that future hurricane seasons may have on other communities and their libraries. PubZilla wants to keep helping libraries impacted by disasters, and we also want to help any others needing periodicals. Therefore, PubZilla now offers unlimited free use of our site to everyone in the serial back issue/volume trade for any need.
Donating or giving away your journals at PubZilla for whatever purpose is easy (more information).
Please visit the Medical Library Association or the American Library Association for more information about library disaster relief efforts.
